Black Pepper Beef Stir Fry
Makes 5-6 servings
Ingredients
Beef Marinade:
1 lb of flank or eye of round steak
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tbs light soy sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1/4 tsp white pepper
1 tb cornstarch
Sauce:
2 tbs oyster sauce
1/4 cup light soy sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
2 tsps cracked black pepper
1 tsp ground Sichuan pepper
1/2 tsp honey or sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tb cornstarch
Stir fry:
Vegetable oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 tb minced garlic
1/4 of a white onion, cut into medium-sized chunks
1 red bell pepper, cut into medium-sized chunks
1 green bell pepper, cut into medium-sized chunks
1. Combine the beef with the rest of the marinade ingredients. Mix, and then let everything marinate in the fridge for about 1/2 an hour.
2. Combine all the ingredients for the sauce and whisk. Set aside.
3. In a wok or large pan over high heat with some vegetable oil, cook the garlic and onions. Add the bell peppers and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes. Remove from the wok/pan and set aside.
4. Add the beef and stir fry until slightly blackened on the outside. Add the vegetables back into the wok/pan, and stir fry for about 30 seconds. Right before adding the sauce, give it another stir. Add the sauce and toss all the ingredients together.
