Sugar Cookies with Culikid

Last week, we collaborated with Kelley from Culikid. We made kid-friendly sugar cookies with natural food dyes. These cookies are very simple to make, absolutely delicious and can easily get the kids involved in the kitchen.

Sugar Cookies

Makes 20

Ingredients

½ cup butter, room temperature

½ cup sugar

½ tsp vanilla

1 egg

1 ¼ cups all purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

¼  tsp salt

You can make the cookies by hand or using a stand/hand mixer!

1. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together. Add the egg and vanilla, and mix well.

2. Add in the dry ingredients and mix well.

3. Roll out the dough to about a 1/4 inch thick sheet, and chill for about 1 hour. You may place the sheet on a baking tray with parchment paper.

4. Preheat the oven to 350F. Taking out the already rolled dough sheet, cut it with cookie cutters. Place the cookies on a baking tray with parchment paper and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes.

Fruity Sugar Glaze

Makes 1.5 cups

Ingredients

1 cup powdered sugar

3-4 tbsps water

1 tsp of fruit juice (we used strawberries and blueberries)

1. Mix the ingredients into a bowl for about 5 minutes. you may add more water or sugar to get your preferred consistency.
